Want to actually be in Downtown for it? Get there by 4pm at the latest — and if I'm honest, 2 or 3pm is the safer bet.

Two to three hours ahead is usually enough to grab a decent spot along the waterfront, especially if you're not fixed on being directly at the barrier. Restaurants along Marina Walk fill up fast too, so if dinner with a view matters to you, book that table well before December even starts.

If you've gone the yacht, dhow, or boat route, the timing pressure mostly disappears — you just need to board on schedule, which charters will confirm in advance. That's honestly one of the underrated perks of watching from the water: no guessing games about how early is early enough.

Getting into a spot early is one thing; getting out after midnight, when roads shut and taxis disappear for a good hour, is the part that actually ruins nights.
