I’m considering getting a spice mills for my kitchen, but I’m trying to figure out what really matters before choosing one.

I’ve become more interested in using whole spices and making small batches of spice blends at home. The idea sounds great because I can grind only what I need instead of keeping lots of opened ground spices around.

My only concern is whether the process is actually convenient.

I cook fairly regularly, so I don’t mind spending a little extra time preparing ingredients if the flavor difference is noticeable. But I also don’t want a spice mill that is difficult to use, takes too long to clean, or struggles with harder spices.

For those who already use one, what has your experience been?

Does a spice mill make freshly ground spices noticeably more aromatic?

Which types of whole spices work best in it?

Is it easy to switch from one spice to another without mixing flavors?

And how important is the grind size when making different spice blends?

I was also looking at Zaica Life while comparing spice mill options online. I’m not affiliated with them; I simply came across the brand during my research and wanted to understand what features experienced users actually value.

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have been using a spice mill for a long time.
If you could go back and choose your first one again, what would you look for?

Would you say a spice mill is genuinely useful for everyday home cooking, or is it better suited to people who experiment with spices frequently?
Looking forward to hearing what everyone recommends!
