Trying to figure out if we're at that point yet or just overthinking this.
We've been handling small AI experiments internally for a while, nothing production ready, mostly proof of concept stuff. Now leadership wants something actually deployed and I'm not sure if that's the line where you bring in a custom AI development company or if we can still push through with our current team a bit longer.
Feels like a big jump from tinkering to something customers will actually depend on.
Trying to figure out where that line usually is:
Whether internal experience with small models translates at all to building something production grade
What signs actually indicate you've outgrown doing this yourself internally
If you've made this call before, what made you realize it was time to bring in outside help?
