I'm sitting here feeling pretty stupid right now and I need to vent to people who might understand what I'm going through. About four months ago, I bought a 2012 Q7 with 180,000 kilometers on it because I got what I thought was a great deal. The car looked clean, the test drive went fine, and the seller seemed honest and provided service records that looked decent. I was so excited to finally have an Audi and I convinced myself that the high mileage wasn't a big deal because these cars are built to last. Well, I'm starting to think I made a huge mistake because in the last few weeks, the transmission has started acting up in ways that are really scaring me. The shifts are getting rougher, especially when the car is cold, and I've noticed a delay when accelerating from a stop that wasn't there before. Sometimes when I'm driving at highway speeds, the RPMs will suddenly surge for no reason, like the transmission is slipping or searching for the right gear. I took it to a local mechanic and he told me that the transmission is showing signs of wear and that I should start preparing for a major repair. He said that with this kind of mileage, it's not uncommon for these gearboxes to start failing, and that an overhaul is probably in my near future. I feel like such an idiot because I should have known that buying a high mileage luxury car was a risky move, but I was so focused on getting a good deal that I didn't think about the potential maintenance costs. Now I'm looking at spending thousands of dirhams on a transmission repair that's going to cost more than I paid for the car in the first place. I've been doing some research and I've seen some recommendations for a quality automatic transmission overhaul in Khalifa City that apparently does really good work on these Audis. I'm thinking of taking it there for a proper diagnosis because I want to know exactly what I'm dealing with before I make any decisions. But I'm also wondering if I should just cut my losses and sell the car before the transmission completely fails, even though I know I'll take a huge loss on it. I'm so torn and stressed out about this whole situation. Has anyone else been in this position where you bought a high mileage Audi and then had transmission problems shortly after? What did you end up doing and do you have any regrets? I really need some honest advice because I feel like I'm in way over my head here. Any input would be massively appreciated because I'm honestly losing sleep over this. Thanks for reading and for any help you can offer.
