      One of the biggest challenges for financial institutions is identifying genuine fraud without unnecessarily blocking legitimate customers. Traditional fraud detection systems often rely on fixed rules, which can generate alerts whenever a transaction falls outside a predefined pattern.

      The problem is that unusual does not always mean fraudulent. A customer traveling abroad, using a new device, making a large purchase, or transferring money to a new recipient could trigger an alert even when the activity is completely legitimate.

      AI-powered fraud detection can take a more contextual approach by analyzing multiple signals, including transaction history, customer behavior, device information, location, and transaction patterns. This can help determine whether an activity is genuinely risky rather than simply unusual.

      As fraud techniques continue to evolve, adaptive AI could become increasingly important for helping financial institutions balance fraud prevention with a smoother customer experience.
