Heavy or lighter designs for wedding Bandhani sarees?

I am interested in purchasing Traditional Bandhani Sarees, which will be suitable for the upcoming festival events, but I am a little unsure about the colors as well as the combinations of patterns. Should the colors be more brightly colored, along with bold designs, or pastel colors? Another question is: which fabric is the best fit for celebrations - cotton, silk, or perhaps chiffon? Your recommendations regarding how to mix all the accessories, like jewelry, blouses, etc., to give a complete traditional touch to the sarees would be appreciated.
