Families like it because it's contained and safe — no wandering off in a crowd. Couples tend to book it for the obvious reasons. Groups of friends usually just enjoy having somewhere to sit down between dancing and eating, which sounds small until you've spent New Year's Eve on your feet the whole night.

Book early. These sell out weeks ahead, sometimes by mid-December. Ask if hotel pickup is included, check the cruise length (two to three hours is standard), and if the fireworks view matters most to you, go for a Marina route timed close to midnight rather than an earlier dinner slot.
It's not the cheapest way to spend New Year's Eve in Dubai. But between the food, the view, and not having to stand for six hours, it's probably the least stressful one.
