Khatmat Milaha from Fujairah side is good for Sohar, and Mezyad near Al Ain is used by people going towards interior Oman and Salalah. On long weekends the queue at Hatta becomes very long, so leave early in the morning.

Keep your passport with minimum six months validity and your Emirates ID. For the car you need driving license, vehicle registration (mulkiya) and ownership details. Suppose the car is not in your name, then you need NOC from the owner, and for rental cars the rental company should give permission for Oman in writing.
4. Car Insurance for Oman
Your UAE insurance normally does not cover Oman automatically. You can add Oman cover with your insurer or buy it at the border, and it starts from around AED 106 for five days. Without insurance they will not allow the car to enter.
5. Few Practical Tips
Oman roads are good but speed cameras are everywhere, so follow the limits. Fuel is cheaper than UAE, and keep some Omani Rial cash for small shops and border payments.
